MISSION

Good Shepherd Catholic School community is committed to the mission of Jesus Christ to teach and nurture a living, conscious, and active faith; to build Christian fellowship; and to serve others through the Gospel message of faith, hope, and love. “…and the greatest of these is love.” (Corinthians 1 13:13)

PHILOSOPHY

Good Shepherd Catholic School is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, elementary school committed to serving a multi-cultural, socially diverse community within the Diocese of San Diego. We integrate Roman Catholic doctrine in our ministry by educating, building, and serving our global community.

We believe that a Roman Catholic education provides a unique setting in which the mission entrusted by Jesus, to the Church, is taught. As children of God, we value the dignity and individuality of each member of the community. Every child has the right to a quality education in an environment that affirms the values, faith, and identity of the Roman Catholic Church allowing him or her to reach spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, physical, and personal maturity. Each child’s education builds upon academic skills and moral teachings necessary to achieve his or her fullest potential.

We recognize that parents and guardians are the primary educators who shape the morals, ethics, and attitudes of our children. We are in a collaborative partnership to facilitate learning and develop young Christians who proclaim Christ and witness His love, truth, and forgiveness in a secular world. We acknowledge that we are called to the Church’s mission and are commissioned to be faithful disciples of Christ, who share the educational ministry of the Church. We aim to model an active relationship with Christ in our works, so that by teaching, sharing, and proclaiming the Gospel, others may welcome and embrace Christ into their lives.

Good Shepherd Catholic School nurtures a desire for life-long learning and prepares our students to lead productive lives serving family, Church, and the global community. Our students make a commitment to share God’s love through personal character, integrity, and honor.

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)"
